What Gyro Means

Gyro began as a friendship organization, created to preserve the camaraderie of good friends and extend that spirit across clubs, cities, provinces, and countries. The Nanaimo club carries that same focus locally: friendship first, with community projects and member-led events growing naturally from that foundation.

Meetings

The Nanaimo club typically meets on Thursday nights from early September through the end of June, with a break around Christmas. Meetings are held at different venues in the Nanaimo area, with monthly schedules shared with members.

Regular evenings often begin with an optional cocktail hour around 6:00pm, dinner, a short formal meeting, and social time afterward.

Members And Probies

A member is installed into the club and in good standing. A Probie is a probationary member who has submitted an application but has not yet been installed. Probies are welcomed into club life and attend meetings while they work toward installation.

Guests are usually introduced by current members so they can experience the club before deciding whether Gyro is a fit.

Club Life

The club calendar includes regular meetings, installation events, dinners, golf, seasonal gatherings, mystery dinners, trips, and other social traditions. Some events are men-only and others include spouses, partners, or guests.
